| Smiley Reappointed to National Arbitration & Mediation Committee
After completing a four year term in December 2006 as a member of the National Arbitration & Mediation Committee (NAMC) of the NASD, which is the world’s largest forum for resolving disputes between clients and brokerage firms, Brian Smiley was reappointed to the NAMC for 2007. The 13 members of the NAMC are appointed by the Board of Directors of the NASD. The members of the NAMC include representatives from the securities industry, neutrals such as arbitrators and mediators, and the ranks of investor advocates. The NAMC is actively involved in the drafting of arbitration rules and the recruitment, training and evaluation of arbitrators. Mr. Smiley’s initial term began in 2002. During his term on the NAMC, Mr. Smiley was Chairman of its Rules and Procedures Subcommittee.
