Brian Smiley’s appointment to SICA is discussed in a recent Securities Arbitration Commenter Alert.
A “Securities Arbitration Alert” published on April 6, 2011 by the Securities Arbitration Commentator discussed Brian Smiley’s recent appointment to the Securities Industry Conference on Arbitration (SICA). Brian’s predecessor as a public member of SICA, Ted Eppenstein, congratulated his appointment saying, “Brian Smiley contributes the street smarts practiced by an experienced investor attorney, the leadership exercised as a former president of PIABA and the inside knowledge gained as a prior member of the NAMC.”
Asked to comment on his appointment, Smiley stated to the Commentator, “As a lawyer who represents investors, I am very honored to have been appointed as a member of SICA. SICA is the place where the people who actually use the securities arbitration process have an opportunity to address our concerns directly to FINRA, the state securities departments and the SEC. SICA has always been a place where good ideas are born and bad ideas are put out of their misery.”
